Living with Girls is a series of mixed-media artwork, created with the floor sweepings from my living space. Each piece contains the sweepings over a one-month timeframe and adhered to a raw canvas. Working within those limitations, abstract marks are created with the found pencils and crayons, while the collected objects (Barbie shoes, pistachio shells, hair bands, for example) are carefully arranged to reflect the constant balance of order and chaos of our modern life. As a husband and father of two young girls, the work serves as an abstract document of time and an artistic practice in mindfulness, capturing the present, yet always fleeting moment.
